Cynthia began her successful career after moving from New York and pursuing a modeling career. Cynthia was soon signed to a five year contract for five years with Wihelmina Models, which led her to the very lucrative first book as the cover for Essence Magazine. Cynthia's Essence cover, which was the highest-selling magazine in history, was also Susan Taylor's her favorite. Cynthia was able to secure her second cover soon after and set the scene for a lengthy career. Her next destination was Paris as well as Milan. Here she was seen walking the catwalks at Paris Fashion Week. Cynthia was able to move to New York City after living in the United States for nearly a year. Her campaigns featured Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Vogue editorials followed, as did with Glamour magazine, Elle, Essence Vanity Fair and Glamour. Cynthia was chosen as the preferred choice by Naomi Campbell over Naomi Campbell as co-star with Sandra Bernhadt for the film, "Without You, I'm nothing."
